EUROPEAN CHARM IN DOWNTOWN SARASOTA

Located in the art district (Toweles Court) in Downtown Sarasota, The Garden Room Cafe is the loveliest way to spend a lazy Saturday. Walking into this quaint little cafe, you are immersed in all things feminine, flowery and comfortable. Designed by owner Kathryn Kittinger and inspired by her California roots, she has taken a little space and turned it into a stunning display of unique character.

Perfect For A Light Lunch

Enjoy a light lunch on a quiet afternoon with a cup of tea and the sunshine on your face. Bursting with flowers and whimsical romanticism, this cafe is all about the atmosphere. Its vibe is cozy but stylish; all food is brought out on decadent little plates and her menu even suggests that you “design your own plate” with the choice of mixing and matching an assortment of lovely light treats.

One of her best salads on the menu is the pear and walnut salad, which is a delightful mix of sweet and savory and goes great with the cheese and cracker pedestal and a cup of tea. And don’t miss out on the Elderflower water which she has imported from England and serves you in a dainty glass with a fresh strawberry on top! It can be very hot in Florida, so inside seating is also an option if the heat outside is too much.

A Mix Of Cottage Charm And Sophisticated Elegance

All of these seats overlook the beautiful garden area and are quite cozy, reflecting the cottage feel of the place, at the same time the fabulous chandelier that hangs above your heard adds a touch of elegance as it casts beautiful plays of light around the area. Make sure to have a look around! The entire cafe is a beautiful piece of art, but Kittinger also has a gallery where she exhibits her own photography. In addition to running her restaurant, she owns a children’s photography company called Shoogie Boogies inspired by the childhood nickname given to her by her grandfather.

And if you are interested in hosting an event there, she accommodates large parties from simple afternoon tea parties to grand wedding receptions. Her open hours are from 11:30-2:00 and it is best to call in advance for reservations, as she can get very busy, particularly on Saturdays. Whether you are just visiting Sarasota or you live here, a visit to this charming cafe should be on the top of your list—you won’t regret it!
